ADMISSION OF NEW MEMBERS

Applications for membership must be supported by a proposer (who has been a senior member of the Club for 5 years) and a seconder (who has been a senior member for 3 years).  Only a Member may request a nomination form for membership.  Proposers, seconders and a person seeking membership must all be from different families.

Applications are placed on a Waiting List, to be dealt with as vacancies occur. The Board reviews the Club’s membership categories each November.  Candidates are interviewed by at least two members of the Board of Directors.

Application forms are not continually available, however, Members are notified via the Bulletin when a release of forms is imminent. Forms for junior membership will be available for a six week period from 27th April 2009.  Forms for senior membership are available now - only forwarded to Proposers.  Full details of the procedures for new Members may be obtained from the Club’s Registered Office.   It is a prerequisite to stay at one of the three lodges prior to membership being offered.

Entrance Fee

On completion of membership requirements, the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Kosciusko Alpine Club is issued to new Members who thereby accept their membership in accordance with the terms therein, together with the By-laws of the Club and lodge regulations current from time to time.

Entrance Fees are currently $4,000 + $400 GST for new Senior Members - this may be repaid over three years in three equal instalments. Junior Members becoming Seniors at 18 years of age, pay an Entrance Fee equivalent to 30% of the Senior Entrance Fee (i.e. $1200 + GST) however any Junior Member who has been a Junior Member continuously for five years or more immediately preceding will only pay an Entry Fee of 20% of the applicable Entrance Fee for Senior Members (i.e. $800 + GST). The Junior to Senior Entrance Fee may be paid over a three year period in three equal instalments. The Fees become due and payable within one month of Notice of Membership.

Membership is not transferable.

The Entrance Fee is non refundable.

Children under 18 joining as new Juniors do not pay an Entrance Fee when elected, only the year’s Annual Subscription.  Juniors, on reaching 18 years of age and who are seeking Senior membership, are invited to an Ice Breakers' evening and interviewed by the Board. An Entrance Fee as explained above is then applicable.

Annual Subscriptions

The Annual Subscription has two components - Ordinary Subscription and Capital Fund Contribution. In 2010, Senior Ordinary Subscription rate: $290 and Capital Fund Contribution : $120, totalling $410.  The subscription for Juniors: $116 only.

All Annual Subscriptions become due and payable in advance on 1st January each year. Members who have not paid their Subscriptions by 31st January will be considered unfinancial and could risk losing their membership.

Senior subscriptions paid by credit card may be paid in two equal installments.

Members who are overseas for a period of not less than 12 consecutive months may apply for a concession rate which is half the normal Annual Subscription.

kac The nominated person may attend the lodges during the winter season without an accompanying Member. The Member will, however, remain responsible for the conduct of these persons while in residence.

kac Bookings will be accepted and confirmed from 22 March 2010 for the ensuing winter (for 5, 6 and 7 nights).  Rates will be at non-member levels.  Bookings for 4 nights will open 21 April 2010.  Weekend bookings open on 12 May, 2010.

kac Members may nominate "Friends" by writing to the Board by 1st March each year or indicate names on the appropriate section on the Annual Subscription form. The nominations close on 1st March and must be renewed annually. The Board will have the right to accept or reject such nominations and will advise those approved by letter.
