House Rules
- The House Committees, appointed by the Board of Directors, are responsible for the management of Club lodges. Each lodge has resident Managers who are responsible for the day to day management of the lodge and who are responsible to the Board.
- ‘House Captains’ are appointed at each lodge every week. If a House Committee Member or a Director is not in residence, then a Club Member will be appointed House Captain.
- The "House Captain" has the right to enforce the Club’s by-laws and report to the Board of Directors any Member or other person whose conduct is inappropriate or who causes damage to the lodge or any of the Company’s property. Please refer any problems to the House Captain. The "House Captain" acts as liaison between resident Managers, guests and the Board.
- Members and guests should treat the resident Managers courteously.
- All complaints regarding the behaviour of staff should be made in writing to the Club Secretary/Manager. Under no circumstances should a direct approach be made to staff.
- The Directors may exclude from the lodge any person who has contravened the by-laws, who knowingly does not comply with the House Rules or whose behaviour is inappropriate.
- Member and non-member registers must be signed before taking up residence. Arrival and departure dates are to be entered.
- All visitors must be introduced by a Club Member who is responsible for the behaviour of the visitor and who must enter the name of the visitor in the Visitor’s Book. Visitors are prohibited from entering any bedroom. No non-resident visitor may remain in the Club lodge when the member introducing him or her is absent.
- Rooms must be vacated by 9.00 am on the day of departure. Outward baggage may be taken to the games room. Bedrooms are not available for occupation by incoming guests until after 12 noon.
- The Club lounge must be vacated by midnight except when an official Club function is held and/or permission is given by the House Captain to extend this time.
- Keep sound system low at all times. Use is not permitted between midnight and 9.00 am or by children under 15 years of age.
- TV/Video are located in the games room and may only be operated by the House Captain, members of the Social Committee, or persons appointed by the House Captain.
- Any breakage or damage to the Club’s property will be made good by the person responsible. In the case of a breakage or damage caused by a visitor, the Member introducing the visitor will be responsible.
- Entertaining and holding parties in bedrooms and gambling on Club premises is prohibited.
- Please turn off all radiators when not required, to reduce costs.
- Skis are to be stored in the ski room. Ski boots are not to be worn beyond the ski room. Club Members may not store skis in the lodge when not in residence (except where Club ski lockers are available). Skis that are left may be impounded and sold without notice to owners.
- Staff duties include the making of beds (in winter) and cleaning rooms. Excessively untidy rooms will not be serviced.
- Apres Ski Bar: Soup, tea, coffee and milk are available on a self-serve basis from the bar area. Please keep the bar area clean and do not ‘borrow’ other people’s liquor. Mugs and glasses are to be returned to the bar area and cleaned after use.
- SMOKING IS PROHIBITED IN THE LODGES. Smoking is only permitted on the external decks of the lodges. Should any Member be found to be smoking in a bedroom, their stay in the lodge will be terminated and no refund of accommodation monies made, and their Membership privileges will be withdrawn until a time to be determined by the Board of Directors. Any non-member found to be smoking in a bedroom will have their stay in the lodge terminated and no accommodation monies refunded, and will not be permitted to book further accommodation in any of the Club’s lodges.
- FIRE is a great hazard in the snow country. Familiarise yourself with the location of fire fighting equipment. Fire exits must not be opened except in an emergency and should not be blocked by luggage, etc. Every door is fitted with a self-closing device and these must not be tampered with or the doors propped open.
- The use of any form of naked lighting is strictly forbidden in any part of the Club lodge.
- All external doors, other than the front door(s), are designated Fire Exits, are illuminated automatically and are to remain closed except in an emergency. When such a door is opened, a fire alarm will be activated. For security reasons, the front door(s) has been fitted with a computer lock. In order to gain entry, the lock combination may be obtained from the House Captain or from the Registered Office prior to departure. Security is a problem if all guests are not security conscious. Question all strangers within the building.
- Each lodge is equipped with smoke detectors which will produce an audible alarm if smoke is detected. All Members should immediately vacate the lodge if this alarm sounds.
- Adult Members are responsible for the behaviour of their children at all times. A responsible adult must be seated at the dining table with the children during meals. Young children are not permitted in the kitchens. At Alpenhof and Thredbo, the kitchen is out of bounds at all times to guests. Parents or guardians will be liable for the defacing of property by children.
- Babies: Parents should consider others in residence. Babies’ nappies should not be changed in public areas.
- Dress: Guests should dress appropriately for dinner - no thongs or stubbie shorts. Bare feet are not permitted AT ANY TIME in the lounge areas or dining rooms. Caps or hats are not to be worn at the dining room table.
- Non-paying overnight guests are strictly prohibited. Any Member directly or indirectly permitting the entry of a non-paying guest will be liable to immediate withdrawal of all privileges of membership.
- Non resident use of facilities: Non resident KAC Members may use lounge facilities, the Apres Ski Bar and the downstairs toilet or shower facility at Alpenhof or bathroom in the games room at KAC Thredbo provided they have their own towels. However, their guests are excluded from the showers.
- Trip Book: Weather in the snow country can change rapidly. For your safety details of trips out of the general skiing area must be recorded in the Trip Book. Do not vary your route and destination and complete the trip entry on your return.
- The Company accepts NO LIABILITY for theft or damage.
