The Lodge, Charlotte Pass

The present Club lodge was built in 1964 after the first KAC lodge had burnt down. It cost $132,000 to build and contains accommodation for 44 guests, mainly in bedrooms for two, three or four people. It is a comfortable lodge with a sun drenched lounge providing unsurpassed views of the slopes. The living/dining room area was renovated and carpeted in 1979 to provide bar facilities, relocate the sound equipment and generally make better use of the available space. Each bedroom contains an en suite. A drying room is located off the ski room and a laundry is provided. The building is centrally heated.

Each bed is fitted with a doona, however, sheets and blankets are available (in the bedroom cupboards) for those who prefer them. Clean towels are provided for all guests upon arrival and changed again on Wednesdays.

In 1980 the Social Committee up-graded the basement as a recreation area for younger guests. A sound system and table tennis were provided and in 1987 video equipment was added. In 1992 a bunk room was renovated to provide a family room with queen sized bed and ensuite. The bedroom wing was demolished and rebuilt during 1998/99. The lounge/dining area was renovated and an addition of staff/services link to the Manager's flat included.

Members’ lunches are on a self-catering basis and comprehensive kitchen facilities are provided. The kitchen was renovated in 1990 and provides ovens, cook tops, a microwave oven, saucepans and cooking utensils. Cutlery, glassware and china are provided.  Each room is allocated refrigerator and cupboard space in the kitchen. Guests have a choice of selecting the evening meal prepared by the Manager or self-catering. When arranging a booking it is necessary to indicate which method of catering has been selected and a deposit is paid accordingly. Meals cannot be ordered once on site. The Club also provides a hot breakfast plus cereal, bread, juice, margarine and jams for breakfast during winter and Easter. If requested, the Manager will provide porridge on a self-serve basis.

Basic stores such as tea, coffee, soup packets, flour, dishwashing liquid, plastic wrap, salt and pepper are provided. Laundry detergent is also supplied for the washing machine.
